Letters from Mrs. Lakey

Dear Students,

I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you so much these days.  I have been wondering what you are doing through the day.  I am gardening, painting, reading, cooking (a lot), and spending time with my family. I really need to do some cleaning too.

Here’s what I am planning for you guys while we are in “distant learning” school. I want you to try and do some IXL language arts and read as often as you can.  We won’t have a spelling test. I know some of you are cheering (I know who you are J) I have made recommendations to you on IXL. I don’t want you to be nervous or worried at all about your school work.  You all are creative, smart, and hard workers.  You inspire me. We have already learned so much this year. I will be making a guide of my suggestions for IXL for you too.  I will be checking in on IXL to see how amazing you are doing.  If there is a time that you are unable to connect to IXL or epic don’t worry.

Here are some other suggestions and opportunities for learning:  go for a walk with your family, write a poem, bake something with your adult loved one, make a list of all the things you want to do this summer, paint, draw, write stories, or dramas, design costumes, work puzzles, learn to sew (and teach me next year), research your favorite animals, plant a garden, create a masterpiece, write letters, keep a journal, read a book or 20.

I am sure you will think of many more inspirational things to do.  I want to see or hear about them all. I will be reaching out to you through my website on the Davenport home page, with Remind Me App, and Zoom meeting (hopefully). Feel free to send me a pic through text message and let me see all of your “distant school” activities and adventures. Most of all, know that I miss you and love you. Remember to love yourself and others. Always believe in yourself.  Never give up. Be kind, Be you, Be creative, and Save the bees.  Be safe and see you soon.

          Love ,

          Mrs. Lakey
